Molly Russo, MA Clinical Psychology

This week we interview Molly Russo MA Clinical Psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. Here is her bio:

Molly is completing her Clinical Doctorate in Psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. Currently, Molly works at a continuation high school in Richmond. Molly is dedicated to creating a safe space for student’s exploring their gender and sexual identity. In line with these values, Molly has presented her dissertation on medical bias towards transgender communities at the second annual LGBT symposium in Illinois. It was at her third year practicum at a county trauma hospital that Molly began formulating her research trajectory. Molly knew that she would soon be a member of the medical profession that has so often provided traumatic experiences for transgender individuals seeking routine medical check ups. It felt most meaningful to conduct her research with the providers where there is great potential for education, awareness, and change. Prior to graduate school, Molly spent time traveling in Mexico and worked for a non-profit called Street Yoga, working with survivors of trauma through movement and body work, that inspired her to pursue a Doctorate degree. During her training in graduate school, Molly has worked in community mental health and is passionate about her work in this capacity gaining experience in schools and community clinics. Molly’s work is guided by a commitment to multiculturalism, self-growth, and the healing power of connection. As Molly finishes her degree, she hopes to work with college age adults and adolescents, a ripe moment in identity formation. Originally from the east coast, Molly now calls the Bay Area her home and feels grateful to put down roots in such a beautiful place.
